Ambassador Dr. Riyad H. Mansour

ADC is pleased to announced that Dr. Riyad H. Mansour, State of Palestine Ambassador to the UN, will headline our Palestine Session at the ADC National Convention in an one-on-one conservation with Palestinian journalist and scholar Said Arikat on Palestine’s UN initiatives.

Born in Ramallah to a refugee family, Dr. Riyad H. Mansour was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations (UN) in 2005; a title that was changed to State of Palestine in November 2012 after Palestine was admitted as a “non-Member Observer State” by the UN General Assembly. Dr. Mansour started his diplomatic career in 1983 as the Deputy Permanent Observer of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to the UN.   Dr. Mansour moved to the U.S. in 1967 and obtained his Doctorate in Philosophy in Counseling from the University of Akron in Ohio in 1977.

The session will be moderated by Mr. Said Arikat, the Washington correspondent for the Palestinian newspaper Al Quds. For several years, he was the UN’s chief spokesman in Iraq. An adjunct professor at American University in Washington, D.C., he teaches courses on the role of media in society. Arikat is a frequent guest on news programs and on the lecture circuit in the U.S. and abroad.
